The Carnegie Council has appointed six Pacific Fellows, among them professor of sociology at the Sophie University in Tokyo James Farrer and author of Shanghai Nightscapes: A Nocturnal Biography of a Global City.

James Farrer specializes in urban sociology in East Asia, with publications on sexuality, nightlife, expatriate communities, political protest, and food cultures.

Based in New York City and founded by Andrew Carnegie in 1914, Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs is an educational, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that produces lectures, publications, and multimedia materials on the ethical challenges of living in a globalized world.
