Janet Carmosky

US-based China veteran Janet Carmosky will appear tomorrow in the first China Weekly Hangout, focusing on the recent trend among some high-profile foreigners, leaving China with some fanfare. The China Weekly is going to be a weekly live feature, broadcast on YouTube.

In a few months time high-profile foreigners like Mark Kitto, Charlie Custers and Chris Devonshire-Ellis announced they would be leaving China, all for different reasons, but adding to a meme suggesting China is increasingly becoming foreigner-unfriendly. In the hangout apart from Janet Carmosky, described as the China-consultant at-large, also Richard Brubaker and Andrew Hupert are expected to appear. Fons Tuinstra, president of the China Speakers Bureau will moderate. The official announcement you can find here.

Possibly some members of the audience will join in to ask questions, or can otherwise watch and comment on the events published at the event page.

The China Weekly Hangout is going to be a weekly feature, bringing together participants from different continents and will typically be broadcast on Thursdays, 9pm Beijing time, 3pm CEST and 9am Easter. For regular updates, you can sign up at the China Weekly Hangout page at Google+

Next week a broadcast is planning on the question why Chinese are leaving China – and what is possibly means for the country.
