Rumors the Chinese government might double its current four trillion renminbi stimulus package might be true, but Arthur Kroeber of the Beijing based consultancy Dragonomics does not believe it would be announced immediately, he told The Telegraph today. He expected another package was needed if China would reach its target of eight percent growth of its GDP, although he warned against any fast effects.

He estimated that health spending was set to rise by about 30 per cent a year for three years, but cautioned that it would take three or four years to see any effect on consumer confidence. “This is a long-term effect,” he said
